DIVEST NOW! Webinar Replay Ready to Review. Please Circulate Broadly and Join the National Campaign to...
Say NO! to Forced Financial Complicity in Crimes Against Humanity
Dear Friends and Allies,
Now ready for review and sharing…
Please find below the webinar replay of the latest Hope Knows No Borders Network workshop on how to harness our economic power by finding — and divesting from — the private prison profiteers, GEO Group and CoreCivic, that are making bank from enslaving our neighbors kidnapped by ICE. They are hiding out in our pension plans and retirement funds, forcing our complicity in their crimes against humanity. And we want them to know that profiting from cruelty is not okay!
My apologies if this is a duplicate transmission for you. Our community is growing at an increasing rate now, which is great. But it has spread across multiple platforms, and the admin involved has spread me quite thin. Also, many of your direct emails to me have indicated you’ve not been receiving my updates and notifications,
likely because of email spam filters. We can’t have that!
The Webinar Replay and the Call to Action below are too important to miss!
So, I’ve decided to bring us all under one safe roof. I hope that’s okay. Because…
We have work to do. And the time is right now!
Dora and I were grateful to see so many of you on May 24, 2026. We were honored to be joined by members of the Hope Knows No Borders Network who’ve personally divested all private for-profit prison funds from their portfolios and are making strides to inspire their professional organizations to do the same.
Jennifer Nelson, John Dacey, John Fricker, and Diana Zuckerman were so generous with their time and expertise. They spoke about how to divest as an individual investor. They discussed the steps they are taking to compel the New York State Teachers Retirement System and the American Bar Association to also say NO! to forced complicity in their cruelty profiteering.
One workshop attendee additionally informed us of the efforts to compel Citizens Bank to stop investing in crimes against humanity. In an indication of just how timely this moment is, that boycott, called De-ICE Citizens, made national news this week!
Everyone assembled agreed…
Crimes Against Humanity Are a Bad Investment.
If you are as outraged as we are to see so-called federal law enforcement agencies transformed into paramilitary armies in the USA and weaponized to rain terror on our communities, separate families with impunity, incarcerate people innocent of any real crime, and rob them of their dignity, legal due process, and basic human rights, then you won’t want to miss this very important and urgent webinar.
Indeed, just hours after we signed off, ICE, ICE ERO, HSI, the FBI, and other agents acting on behalf of the US federal government attacked peaceful protesters sitting vigil at GEO Group’s infamous immigrant lock-up in Newark, New Jersey: Delaney Hall. The right-wing and mainstream media characterized the events as protesters “clashing” with the police. But that was not the case. Federal agents attacked.
They attacked people who’d been showing up for over a year to offer solace, encouragement, food, drink, diapers, and clothing to the family members there to visit their loved ones trapped within. They attacked folks, including a US Senator, there to support the demands of the roughly 300 illegally detained individuals who’d gone on a hunger and labor strike just three days before. They attacked people wearing N95 masks and brandishing little more than protest signs with tear gas, rubber bullets, pepper spray, beatings, and arrests. By the end of the week, New Jersey State Troopers and Newark Police had joined the fray on the side of the feds, not the people who pay their salaries.
Even if we can’t be present at Delaney Hall to support those risking their lives within, we can stand up against the amoral practice of modern enslavement in concentration-camp like settings.
We can remove our financial holdings in GEO Group and CoreCivic. We can divest.
Find out how in the webinar replay here. Feel free to circulate the video broadly among your friends, family, faith, and community networks:

We concluded that this effort is worth building into a national divestment campaign alongside other organizations making the best kind of Good Trouble, such as Abolish Private Prisons and De-ICE Citizens Bank. Because…

As soon as we have a date, I’ll let you know. Until then, if you have any questions, comments, ideas, additions, etc., don’t hesitate to reach out.
Until then, stay strong, everyone. Find your allies and keep them close. The only way through this is…together.
In solidarity and justice,
✊🏼 Dora & Sarah ✊🏼
